Parent Information
Hopefully your young person has come home excited about planting and growing something to eat; we thought we would tell you a bit more about it.
We are G’s; a family-owned company based in the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk area, we grow and sell over 1.2 billion packs of fresh produce each year to all the major UK and European supermarkets. Our products range from a variety of lettuces including iceberg and little gem to other salad products such as beetroot, spring onions and radish and vegetables such as onions and mushrooms.
Our G’s Sowing Seeds project, is an initiative run with local primary schools, supporting learning, and understanding about growing and farming, providing the school with all the resources they need to plant, grow and harvest lettuce and celery in their gardens.
We hope this project will not only teach children where their food comes from and how it grows, but also to challenge any stereotypes about the food and farming industry and broaden horizons for some career-related learning.
Many of the schools we work with are provided with seedlings to grow at home or in school gardens and often we have on of our business representatives visit to talk more about the farming processes. In addition, we provide the school with a variety of resources for the classroom including worksheets and videos.
We hope your young person has enjoyed their interaction with us, to find out more about G’s visit our website www.gs-fresh.com.
