Biodiversity: Approach

Restoring Biodiversity

Our approach will build on local farm and site action to improve habitats and ecosystems and implement a consistent recording and reporting format.

We will use our data to inform our decisions and drive our work to improve biodiversity on all the land that we own or control.

Improving Our Biodiversity

To improve our biodiversity we will follow a continuous improvement cycle based on developing habitats to enable ecosystems which will support diverse species and organisims to thrive.

Biodiversity Improvement

Habitat Measurement

Baseline

  • How many habitats / features
  • What area of habitat in each
  • How many habitat types within each feature, (diversity).
  • How connected are the habitats, within a farm, site or landscape

Habitat Improvement & Expansion

Action

  • We will improve the quality (diversity and condition ) of our habitats
  • We will increase the area of existing habitats and build new ones
  • We will improve habitat connectivity and fit to our landscapes and neighbouring farmers

Ecosystem Measurement

Evidence

  • Species abundance
  • Species variety
  • Evenness (relative abundance)
